Divisive by John Tucker - Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book is about a dysfunctional family and the man that plans to tear that family apart.  The Connors family consists of Carolyn, the mom that never wanted to be a mom; Elizabeth, the protective older sister; and Emily, the baby of the family that just wants to be loved.  Enter Dennis Rask, the man that seems to be the answer to the Connors prayers.  Divisive tells the tale of one mans game of destroying families.

I was caught up in this story from the very beginning.  It was an edge of your seat thriller that kept you guessing throughout the story.  I loved all the different perspectives of the characters.  You got to see the story through the eyes of every character.  I had no idea who the bad guy really was throughout.  Was Dennis really a killer or was he wrongfully accused by an overzealous detective?  The ending was unexpected and left me wanting more.  I can't wait to read the next book.

Taken by You (The Killer Next Door, #2) by Carlie Sexton - Review

** spoiler alert **
First scenes is Roger walking into a bar to find someone to beat the crap out of and instead he meets this hot exotic looking chick, pretty chicks name is Rose and of course Roger being all psycho thinks that it's an omen and he needs to date her.
Roger keeps wondering around Kate's old empty apartment looking for clues...does he not realize that she knows he is psycho!?!? Roger is now stalking Kate because he can't get enough of! So roger has gone to all new lows...if he could get any lower, he found her at her job but she was hiding but now she has to quit her job.

Kate is even more lost inside herself now, she gets a huge blow to her emotions not only last book with coming out with we secrets but now she has lost another loved. This girl has some emotions of steel! Kate's confronted with the fact that her father left when she is called and told that he has died and she needs to go home for his funeral. Kate's friends also convince kate to quit her job because of psycho boy but of course she didn't and Roger came to her work while she was working but didn't see her so she quit her job that night so now Neil has hired some Navy Seals to be with her when ever he isn't. I can understand why Kate feels lost and trapped. She can't have a life. Crazy!
We finally get a little bit more of Kate's brother and they are close only 2 years apart. He is a rock for her but not as much as Neil. I know that Kate tries not to be reliant on Neil but it seems like she is more than she gives herself credit for. Oh and to top it all off; (like Kate needs more drama!) Neil's dead wife is Kate's doppleganger! Kate found out in class that they found Marks body and instantly she freaks out blaming herself and is instantly worried about Neil. But I can honestly see why she is worried.

Pauline runs into Darcy which is the wife of Rogers best friend.. And is warned by Darcy that there is something wrong with Roger and that is when Paulina realizes that Roger is not all there but she can't get away and now Rogers body count is like 4-5 peeps...he is a lunatic!

Only downfall so far is too many mental dialogues again and too many people to follow...but I do love how connected each character & pair is with each other.

All in all: Carlie you did it again!! This one was better than the first and of course now I have to wait till August to find out what happens next!! Great job!! This is the perfect mixture of erotica meets suspense...if your looking to mix it up read this series!!

Favorite quote:

Fallen for You (The Killer Next Door, #1) by Carlie Sexton - Review

** spoiler alert **

Well, I will say that this book too a little bit to get into. I had to keep putting it down and coming back to it. It was a good book and I would LOVE to read the second one because the book took me away right at the end.

Roger is a very handsome but very creepy 38 year old manager of an apartment complex and he ends up talking to Kate about renting a place to her and her friend but somehow some way Roger has fallen head over heels for Kate and he has never even met her! Talk about crazy!! Throughout the whole book, you keep going back to Roger and what Roger is thinking. It was really hard to connect with Roger because he was just so wow and so out there. I mean he is sleeping with his girlfriend, Rose, while he is with her he is having this secret relationship in his head with Kate. But Kate doesn’t even really know that Roger exists. So, Rogers character is very out there and is creepy right from page one!

Quote from Roger: He imagined that Rose was Kate as he devoured her mouth with his.

That right there is just insane! And just a little nutsoid!

Kate is this lost soul of a girl that is drop dead gorgeous - but just like most females in books she doesn't realize this and then she finds herself stuck between two drop dead sexy guys that want her. She has had a terrible past and two huge things happened in it so it has made her so guarded and has kept her sheltered from guys in general. So when she goes back to college and is slapped in the face by a hot co-ed she doesn’t know if she should be attracted OR run the other way! Kate also decides to try and meet up with an alumnus from her college to get to know the school and activates better. Well, she is stood up which pisses her off! But little does she know that she is going to be chased down by the most handsome man that she has ever seen!

Quote from Kate: “Mm,” she moaned softly. “Last night was the best dessert I have ever had. I especially enjoyed how you served it to me.”

So I do love the fact that the book does mature a little bit along with the book…

The only thing that truly bugged me about this book is it kind of felt a little all over the place. It was told thru the eyes of a third party but it followed basically every character in the book. It tended to change from moment to moment. So that bugged me but other than that I think this book was a great suspenseful erotica and I would love to read the second book.

And congrats to Carlie =)

Hated (Rock Star Trilogy #3) by Mercy Amare -Review

** spoiler alert ** All that I have to say is amazing! I have loved this roller-coaster that Scarlett and her whole group of groupies has gone through.

I love that you follow Scar & Stephan through the first year of marriage. It's just amazing! There were times that I thought I could kill Alec and Bridge, but there were times that I actually laughed out loud. It's not very often that I do that in books.
Without giving too much away I will say that Mercy did an AMAZING job at closing out this series. You aren't really left wondering what happened to anyone. Loved it!! And as always you rocked my socks!! <3

5 star!!! Everyone needs to read it ;)

Jaded (Rock Star Trilogy #1) by Mercy Amare - Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Jaded follows rock star Scarlett Ryan as she tries to live a normal life.  Scarlett was pushed to be a star by her parents since she was little.  She’s lived the life of a rock star since the age of 15.  All she wants is to finish high school like a normal teenager even though she’s 19.  Scarlett buys a home in the small town of Hope, Florida.  She starts her senior year and tries to make new friends, which is hard to do when you’re famous.  Scarlett ends up becoming friends with Stephan and his stepbrother Ethan.  Scarlett’s relationship with Stephan changes and they become boyfriend and girlfriend.  Along the way Scarlett learns a secret about herself that her parents kept from her.

This was a sweet story about a girl that just wants to live a normal life and is tired of everyone telling her how to act and look.  She just wants to sing the music she writes the way she wants to sing it.  She just wants to get back to basics in her career.  However, fame and demands tend to get in the way.  I really enjoyed this story, it’s perfect for teens and adults.

Soul Mates-Bound By Blood by C.L. Champlain - Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Soul Mates-Bound By Blood continues the story of Dy and Ari.  Fairy Princess, Dy, and her warrior Fae, Ari, are planning to travel and meet with Ari’s father after they get married.  Ari’s father is the King of Tuath Aer, and they want them to join with Lee Land to fight the druids and demons.  However, things are not as they seem at Tuath Aer, and no one can be trusted.  Friends turn out to be enemies and secrets are revealed.

I again really enjoyed this story.  The interactions between all the characters were wonderful.  New characters are added to the story and new creatures.  Magic and science are combined to fight enemies.  The ending was what I consider a major cliffhanger.  I can’t wait for the next book in the series.  I really want to know what will happen next.

Immortal Reborn: Arianna's Choice (Children of Angels, #1) by Natalie D. Wilson - Review

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Alexandria is a 21 year old woman with amazing abilities.  As a child, when she touched an object, she was thrown into visions of the objects past.  She would see that era and speak in the language of the time and place.  Her family was very supportive, accepting her differences and protecting her.  At age 8, she was given the opportunity to live without her visions, to be a normal girl.  She grew up always knowing she would eventually get her abilities back.  At a Christmas ball, Alexandria is attacked by a man claiming to know what she is.  She is saved by the same man that offered her respite from her abilities.  The time had finally come for her to learn more about her abilities.  What follows is the beginning of an epic adventure for Alexandria.

I greatly enjoyed this book.  It contains everything a good story needs.  Adventure, action, drama, suspense, and romance.  It even has a love triangle.  I loved how Alexandria was accepted by her family in spite of her differences.  Unconditional love and acceptance are apparent throughout the book, along with freedom of choice.  It was a very inspirational read and left me feeling happy and wanting to read the rest of the series.  I need to find out how the rest of the story unfolds.

Hell's Gift (A 'Save My Soul' novel) by K. S. Haigwood - Review

Hell’s gift is the 2nd book in Save my Soul series. I have to say this seemed to be all over the place but it was action packed and you didn’t get lost in what was going on. You meet more characters in this book. Angels, demons, and yes Lucifer.

I happened to read book 1 so I knew what had taken place before this book. Book 2 picked up where book 1 left of. I like a book that doesn’t have a major time gap.

Rhyan was in such a depression over loosing Kendra.  See Kendra was tricked and she had to safe Adam’s soul in order to live. Any how she did this within a week.  Ryan wanted to help but yet he didn’t want to help. He loved Kendra and because she chose right, he was upset, depressed and threw his attitude all over Heaven. Ryan said some things that he shouldn’t have. The archangels decided he needed to meet his soul mate again. By doing this he fell to hell. He didn’t know exactly at first that is what happened though.

While in hell he had to meet his soul mate have her repent her sins and ask god for forgiveness. With her doing this she could return to Heaven with Ryhan. He met his soul mate just didn’t remember who she was at first. Abigail kicked his butt. She beat him with her whip. See while in hell Ryhan became human almost. He had his soul, he could feel pain, pleasure, his beating heart. Things he didn’t feel while in Heaven.

As he reunited with Abigail,  with the help from angels in Heaven.  Lucifer found out and he was outraged. Lucifer wanted Abbi for himself. He didn’t want Ryhan to have her. So Lucifer agreed that if Ryhan escaped the 7 sydes of hell he could take Abbi’s soul along with his back to Heaven. Should Ryhan fail they both remained there in hell.

As Ryhan fights his way through the sydes. There is mischief going on up in Heaven and on Earth. See Murray who was Adams demon was in hell. He wanted to get Kendra back. Ryhan left Kendra to Josselyn another angel. Josselyn would go to Earth and keep an eye on Kendra and her family. Well Murray asked the Prince of Lust to check on Kendra as well. Can you guess what happened? No? well let’s say Prince of Lust fell in love and he didn’t know why.

Ryhan fights his way through the 7 sydes. He has help from angels. Not going to name  many. Like I said you are introduced to a handful of characters and each character has a story with a character in Hell. To me it seemed like most of the Angels soul mates were in hell and were the Prince or Princess of a syde. Although like Prince Lust he didn’t know who his soul mate was until it was to late. I was on the edge of me seat from the middle of this book. I didn’t want to put it down. There was lots of action. It is very detailed. Seems like the author sat down and researched the sydes of hell or something LOL!! But really I could go on and on about this book. I don’t want to give to much away and I want to tell you more. I read some reviews and they didn’t read book 1 before reading book 2. The author gave details about what happened in book 1. Which is true as well. But if your like me I like to read books in order. There are about 6-7 new characters. You have to read which character your reading. Pay close attention. If you don’t you will be lost for a minute or so. I would most defiantly recommend this book.

Living in the Dark by Rebekah Campbell - Review

Title: Living in the Dark
Author: Rebekah Campbell
Format: E-book (Kindle)
Read: December 26, 2012
Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes!

Summary: Experiences can make us or break us and it's no different for sixteen-year-old, Emily.

Living under the roof of her abusive Uncle, Emily is brutally attacked by a gang and wakes up from a coma with no recollection of the accident.

As the amnesia starts to clear, Emily realises that her memory is not the only thing coming back to her from the accident. There's also a wild, angry power that she has to control before it destroys her and everyone else.

So the question remains: Will Experience make her or break her?

Review: I was given a copy of this in e-book format in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ms. Campbell for the chance to read your book.

This debut novel by Ms. Campbell is a fast read, a phenomenal read to be sure. Emily, sweet Emily's life has been turned into a nightmare. This page turning novel will keep you wondering exactly what's behind her strange and out-of-character bursts of violence. Emily is the target of bullies.

The ending will have you wondering what the hell, where is the rest? Why? Just why did she choose to end it this way?! Were is the rest?! God knows I had the same thoughts and had a conversation with myself in public, that this was how she chose to end it, that it is what it is. This is what Ms. Campbell created in her debut novel, and if it is going to give me a complex then so be it. I will just have to wait to see if she once more revisits Emily and her story, or if I'm going to be left hanging.

My only complaint is that it could be a little bit longer, but that's probably the only complaint I have (aside from the fact that it made me crazy for weeks!).

Sarah just turned 18, and she's on the run for her life.  You see Sarah's a little different, she sees a black mist around certain people.  These 'black-mist people' are always aggressive and violent towards Sarah.  While on the run from one such person, Sarah meets up with a man named Rex.  Rex claims he can explain about the 'black-mist' people to Sarah and answer all her questions.  Sarah and Rex are thrown into a crazy adventure where everything is not as it seems, and your friends just might be your enemies.  I really enjoyed this book.  It was action packed and kept my attention throughout.  It is a perfect read for all ages.

Save my Soul by K.S Haigwood - Review

Save my soul is a book about good versus evil. Guardian Angels against Guardian Demons. You have Kendra who had an accident while climbing with some friends. She was on the brink of death. Adam a surgeon was doing it best to save her life. That is his job after all. Little did he know that his miracle hands didn't work it was a Guardian Angel.  Kendra made a deal with Adam's guardian angel. In order for her to live she had to help Adam believe in God again. Yes when I read that I was hoping the author wasn't going to push religion on the reader. That surely didn't happen.
Kendra who is a photographer had a week to make Adam believe. She really didn't know why Adam didn't believe in God until Adam showed her. It hit her like a ton of bricks. Kendra tried explaining to Adam that she only had a week and if she didn't succeed then they both would loose their soul. I love a good angel book. This book not only had angels and demons, it had romance. The demons didn't look like demons they looked like every day people, they didn't look ugly at all. In fact Mason was very handsome and woman were drawn to him.
On her weeks adventure to help Adam believe in God. Her guardian angel Rhyan helped her when he could. The higher powers only gave him so much leeway. Rhyan wanted Kendra for himself. When he was assigned to her he fell in love with her. In a way he wanted to help but then he didn't want Kendra falling in love with  her soulmate, but he knew if he didn't help as much as he could her soul would go to hell and not heaven. As the book progressed the pieces were being glued together. All the pain in Adam's life was done on purpose because he was getting closer to his guardian angel, something Mason couldn't let happen. What did Mason do to Adam to make him stop believing in God? I am not going to say.  I will say it is a good read. There isn't a part where the author says you have to go to church to go to heaven because if you don't you will go to hell. There was adventure, mystery, romance, and crying. Yes I shed a few tears toward the end. Like I said as the book started to wind down pieces were put together. You have to read if Adam believed in God again. If Kendra saved their souls. Did Kendra actually fall in love with Adam?  I would recommend this book to my friends.

Romancing the Fox (The Fox Saga) by John Tucker - Review

I will warn you, if you are easily offended, this is not the book for you.  Romancing the Fox is a laugh out loud erotic, romance.  This book had me laughing from the start.  I enjoyed each character in the book.  John McKenzie is a screenwriter/assistant producer that travels to California to find a porn star to star in his movie.  John interviews a wide range colorful women for the part but ends up choosing Jenna Fox, an independent adult entertainer, and that's where more adventure starts.  When Jenna gets to New York for the filming of the movie, John and Jenna fall in love.  Jenna has to deal with the cattiness of the other movie stars while keeping her relationship with John a secret.  John has quite a few women in love with him that he was clueless about.  You get a behind the scenes look in the "adult entertainment" industry and the film industry.  This book had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.  The ending has a bit of a cliffhanger.  Not a major OMG cliffhanger, more of an I need more cliffhanger.  I can't wait for more in this crazy adventure.

Saving Grace by C.L. Champlain - Review

Saving Grace was a sweet, paranormal romance.  Meet Dy, short for Dorothy, a 16 year old who finds out she is half fairy princess and half druid.  Her boyfriend, Ari, is a warrior Fae.  Dy has always had unusual abilities, she can see auras.  Dy and Ari are soul mates, and because of this Dy's great-grandmother assigns another warrior Fae to help protect her, Declan.  Declan, with his Irish brogue,  and Ari, along with a wide array of characters, help Dy to learn her new powers and help to keep her safe from the druids that want to harm her.  I loved the powers the Fae had in this book, magic wands and the ability to make their clothes with their thoughts.  It is a refreshing take on the Fae.  I also enjoyed the fun references to The Wizard of Oz, that's where Dorothy and her sister Emma Rose got their names from.  Overall, this was a fun, easy read with a happy ending.  I can't wait to read about their adventures in the next book.

Wrath (Soul Savers 5) by Kristie Cook
Release Tour / Book Blast
Genre: Paranormal Romance / New Adult

Release Date: 8/16/2013

New Adult Paranormal Romance by bestselling author Kristie Cook**Mature Content**Recommended for ages 16+ due to sexual situations and language.

Will a mother’s wrath make her cross the line?

didn't want to cry. For once in my life, tears evaded me. Perhaps because I refused to grieve this loss, because it wasn't a loss in my eyes, in my heart. It was a call for war, yes. But not a loss. I wouldn't allow it.

Besides, I was too mad to cry, even in my exhaustion, and anger would get me much further.
As I curled my body around Sasha’s, though, I realized the anger within me had changed. I no longer felt irrational and blinding fury that dulled all other emotions. But that was okay. I really didn't want to be Psycho Alexis. This, what I now felt in every cell of my body down to the core, was better. My anger had condensed and solidified into a cold, hard stone settling within me. Something I could control and hold onto for the long term to keep me going and focused on the goal.

That’s what I felt. And there was nothing worse than the wrath of a pissed-off mother.

Wrath, the fifth volume in the bestselling, award-winning Soul Savers Series, will have you on the edge-of-your-seat-ravenously-devouring-junk-food as you experience the mysteries, magic, betrayals, and passion that you've come to expect from Kristie Cook’s writing.

Marissa's review:

You know, books don't usually make me cry. There have been some, select few, that have made me shed tears, but not many. Wrath, the 5th book in Kristie Cook's Soul Savers series, made me cry - twice! It seems like every time I read whatever Kristie's latest book, I'm saying it's the best book she's ever written and it's the complete and total truth! This woman is incredibly talented and Wrath proves that beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Wrath picks up where Power (Soul Savers Book 4) left off. I don't want to risk accidentally giving away any spoilers but suffice it to say, this book is absolutely AMAZING!!! I loved catching up with all of these characters that now feel like some of my best friends. I laugh with them, I cry with them... a lot. This book has some of the most exciting action scenes and some of the most heart wrenching scenes I've ever read. And Tristan and Alexis have some incredibly hot moments too - phew!!!

Wrath gets 5 hearts!! HIGHLY Recommended!! Go get this book NOW!!!
